Desiree is a passionate music teacher who loves drawing, crocheting, attending Comic Con conventions, and watching movies. Skilled in clarinet, piano, acoustic guitar, trumpet, steel pan, and drumkit, her favorite instrument to play is the clarinet. Desiree enjoys the joy of playing her favorite songs, especially using her well-honed ear training skills to play music she hears. She loves creating a shared experience of music with others, inspired by her own joyful experiences in band at a young age.

Advice for Parents: Encourage your child to practice, as practice makes progress. Play along to favorite songs to inspire them, and when frustrated, remind them to take it slow until it flows naturally.

WHY I PLAY MUSIC?
I love being able to play some of my favorite songs and share the joy of music with others. Playing music with friends is one of the best feelings!

WHAT INSPIRED ME TO TEACH:
Playing in band as a young student brought me so much joy, especially making music with friends. I wanted to share that joy with others!

IF AN ANIMAL PLAYED MY INSTRUMENT:
A cat—they’d be great clarinet players, but don’t give them too many measures of rest, or they might fall asleep!

HOW TO HELP YOUR CHILD’S MUSICAL JOURNEY AT HOME:
Encourage your child to practice and play along to their favorite songs to stay inspired. Remind them to take it slow when they’re frustrated, and progress will come naturally.
