About Katie:
Katie is a dedicated musician and teacher who finds joy in sharing her love for music with students. From a young age, Katie was inspired by her own wonderful music teachers, who instilled in her a passion for learning. Now, she is eager to pass on the same knowledge and joy to her own students, helping them build musical skills that can last a lifetime.

Fun Facts:
Favorite Candy & Beverage: Take 5 candy bars and chocolate milk.
Favorite Musician/Band: Lawrence the Band.
Instrument Skills: Percussion, piano, and guitar (Percussion is her favorite).
Advice for Parents: Encourage perseverance! Katie’s mother encouraged her to stick with music, leading to some of her most formative experiences in marching band.

Drumming with Goisagi (a local taiko group), cycling, pottery, reading, health and fitness, and mining engineering

Playing music is an opportunity to be fully present and create something beautiful.

WHAT INSPIRED ME TO TEACH:
I enjoyed learning music from a young age, inspired by my own amazing teachers. I want to pass on that same knowledge and joy to my students.

IF AN ANIMAL PLAYED MY INSTRUMENT:
An octopus would be great at percussion due to all those limbs!

Encourage them to persevere. Remind them that challenges in learning music are part of the journey and can lead to lifelong skills and opportunities.
